First time in Armenian history the ArmRobotics competition was held in December, 2008. It was pan-Armenian contest among youth that had designed their own robots.
The participants had to design a robot that would track a black line on a white field.
The field was a white space with black lines, obstacles and signals. The robot had to cover the distance fast, perceive the signals and overcome the obstacles.
Some 18 teams from Armenia and Iran registered to contend in the competition. All the participants teams were provided by the Iranian “Hurnet” company with 80% of needed parts.
During the competition months consultations and crediting was performed. Through crediting teams were tested for advance to the final. As a result of final crediting, 9 teams scored into the final.
The final contest took place on December 15th, 2008 with Armenian and Iranian teams.
Eventually the winner was the “Symotec” team with “Smartbot” and “RAUbotic” on second and third places respectively. For interesting and creative solutions prizes were awarded to “CyberRAU” and Red & Rat” teams.
